Hot linking--  Hot linking (bandwidth theft) is direct linking to someone else's files, images, etc.  http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html This image is not hot linked to another site
Copyright issues-- If you are going to use another person's image on your site, you need to give them credit by inserting the address of the site that you got the image from. This is the correct way to give proper credit for another sites image.  The address can be located under the image or at the bottom of the page.

 

Guidelines for your Web site

  • No personally identifiable information
  • Don't give out your full name, especially with a picture.
  • Don't give out contact information.
    i.e.  Phone number, cell phone number, Work Place, Home address, etc.
  • Attempt to gain a friend's permission before putting information about them on the website.
  • Language, humor, pictures
    Keep it clean, nothing that is inappropriate or offensive.
  • Games
    Umm...None, do not host or link to games on your website.
  • All of these guidelines (if followed)  will help keep you safe from online predators.  Use good judgment.
